Factors affecting the health-related quality of life in elderly people with stroke: Focusing on effect of walking

Abstract
Objective : The aim of this study was to examine factors affecting the health-related quality in life in elderly people with stroke.

Method : Current investigation used raw data of 2016 community health survey. Of the 228,452 subjects in the raw data, 3,744 subjects were analyzed aged 65 or older with stroke, excluding no response and missing values. Dependent variables were health-related quality of life(EQ-5D), and independent variables of sociodemographic characteristics were gender, age, family income, education level, and health related to variables were self-rated health, depression experience, self-rated stress, and walking frequency. Statistical analysis was performed using stepwise multiple regression analysis.

Result : Factors affecting health-related quality of life were self-rated health, walking frequency, self-rated stress, age, depression experience, education level(R2=.377, p<.05).

Conclusion : These findings suggest that aging-friendly industries related to walking and mental health education are needed for the health-related quality of elderly people with stroke in the community.
